West End Film Festival Rumpus Cinema

WEFF SCREENING SPACES ARE UNIQUE

“WEFF is about Australian film, artistic merit, success in the wake of adversity (ie…making films with no budget!), and of course about celebrating this in the most culturally vibrant, grass-roots place in Brissy, West End. The idea was to create a space that embodied that raw, resourceful, almost ephemeral vibe that West End has.

West End is uniquely Brisbane and culturally vibrant, so the venue is about platforming the culture that already exists, not presenting a new culture and inserting it into the landscape. Uniquely, the venues also celebrate young, local furniture design by coupling with local design schools to provide cinema seating, lighting, and ambient spaces.”
Hayley Witt, venue designer

The Rumpus Cinema is located in an unused space behind the Rumpus Room bar. In 2012, the festival will utilise more of this space to increase its venue capacity to approximately five hundred for each screening session. Tickets are sold separately for each screening session, tickets can be purchased here under the “tickets” tab at the top of the page or from the Rumpus Cinema Box Office after 4PM on the day of the event.

The Rumpus Cinema is located behind the Rumpus Room bar, cnr Russell Street and Boundary Street, West End. For map click HERE.
